Volunteer for the caravan club

This story happened on: 12/11/2013

We started volunteering at Strathclyde Park Caravan Club Site in June this year.  Its an amazing experience and sometimes even hard work!  However it is a very rewarding experience and it soon became an obsession to get down to the site on our days off work to help out.  We never really enjoyed gardening however the reward of completing a days weeding or planting shrubs to improve the site is a great feeling, and when you get caravanners coming up to you to thank you for your hard work, its makes it even more worth while!

We were made to feel extremely welcome by the staff on site and quickly became part of the team.

I would highly recommend volunteering for The Club.  If you don't get time to exercise, this is a great way of losing weight too!!

I would quite fancy this but our only club site is 33 miles away so the time taken to get there and back is quite a lot as well as the expense of the fuel etc. when you are no longer receiving a wage is a factor for consideration. Regards, Roy

The caravan club will pay for your mileage from your home and as well as that, for every 4 hours worked you get a free overnight stay.   You could have a working weekend and it wont cost you a penny!

Wow - that is a very big temptation! Do they do this at all sites? How do I apply? We have Cirencester and Longleat very near us and it would be great to lend a hand in return for a free stay.

Thank you Sarah for the info. That sound very viable then if correct, which I am sure it is, so I shall ask the Club about my local site.

Regards, Roy

Well I have emailed the Club twice now and still no reply at all. Very dissapointing and this sort of thing gives a very bad image of the Club generally. Regards, Roy
