Post It from Camping Le Petit Trianon de Saint Ustre, Ingrandes, Loire Tuesday 16th April 2013

We chose an ACSI site for our next night’s stay and as we had made reasonable time we stopped south of Tours just outside Ingrandes. I was getting more used to driving this Fiat now and recall someone, Peedee I think, saying on one post that on average you can expect to cover about 40 miles in an hour. Whoever it said that was spot on with me for we had covered exactly an average of 40 mph according to the Ducato’s computer. The site was set in an old castle, I believe from the 15C with a large house from the 18C and was large with all sorts of facilities, pool, jacuzzi, restaurant which was closed, bar etc. The rather large cold toilet block was part of the old castle buildings with walls about 2 feet thick. We chose a nice pitch amongst some trees in the horseshoe are set aside for tourers. It was very tranquil, except for the occasional train passing close by. There was even an old, ruined, chapel in the grounds. It had only opened a few days earlier and as we left the next morning the gardener was evident tidying up the flower pots and beds. It had been a long time since we had driven through rural France but the journey that day reminded us of what a beautiful country it was. Although some things never change and I remember that most places looked as though they were shut up and that was evident as we passed through the villages with not a soul to be seen.
