The Spring Caravan and Camping Show

This story happened on: 27/02/2013

Last week I was lucky enough to spend some time at The Spring Caravan and Camping Show at the NEC Birmingham, and wow what a show! My first impression of The Club stand was that it looked bright, friendly and welcoming. There were dedicated areas to get specific advice, such as the travel booth and insurance surgery, as well as much needed seats to rest weary feet! It was also good to see Vincent and Flavia dance on The Club stand on the first day, which was an excellent start to the show.

As soon as the doors opened The Club stand was busy and I thoroughly enjoyed the great atmosphere and having the opportunity to talk to members. Below are some of my personal show highlights:

Murvi Pimento

You may or may not remember my previous story ‘Choosing a new motorhome’. Basically my parents have been looking to change their motorhome for awhile. Back in May we visited the Southern Motorcaravan Show in Newbury to do some research and to see what’s available. My mum is due to retire later this year and so, with the opportunity of spending more time touring the UK and Europe, they decided it was time to take the plunge. They had previously narrowed their favourite motorhomes down to three great models and their final decision was the Murvi Pimento. We visited the Murvi stand and had a friendly and informative chat with Rex Kneebone of Murvi. The van is due to be ready for August/September time and needless to say they can’t wait!

Meeting fellow Club Together members

It was fantastic to meet some of our Club Together contributors and I was lucky enough to have an offline chat with a few people including Merve, Tigerfish, Bugs and Oldgirl and Staffy. Thank you so much for coming to say hello. It’s been noted that a few people would like a Club Together presence at the October show and we’re going to see what we can do.

Birch Hill CL Site wins an award

I was delighted to meet up with regular Club Together Contributor Ian Kelly (screen name BirchHillFarmCL) and his wife Janet, who are the CL Owner's of Birch Hill CL Site. I was even more delighted when I found out they had won the Practical Caravan Magazine's 2013 'Best Small Site' Award in the UK Top 100 Sites Listings. Well done Ian and Janet and I hope to come and visit your site soon.

So in conclusion I found it a fun, useful and busy show. I was impressed with the layout and really enjoyed meeting so many people. So here’s to the October show, hopefully I will see a few of you there.
