Mixed Bag

This story happened on: 22/04/2014

For our first trip this year, we decided on a clubsite/cl split. We took the cover off the van and checked as usual before leaving.

Starting at New Forest centenary site,a very friendly welcome and left to find our pitch, just as it should be. On pitching, found we had no 12v even though battery fully charged on leaving. Had to reverse /manhandle on to the pitch. Getting setup inside, found damp on all fly screens and around rooflights. Had to do a lot of cleaning not experienced before when not using a cover. Next day, toilet flush would not switch off, took the fuse out and called in a mobile service engineer. He arrived early next morning and found the switch dripping wet. New switch fitted and £100 poorer.

Site seemed quieter than normal but this soon changed at the end of the week as site taking caravanners from Black Knowle due to wet pitches and start of school holidays. As is usual for us, did not use any of the facilities in the ameneity block so cannot comment.

First six days fine, next three terrible, delayed our departure one day to avoid worst weather. Left early next fine morning to travel to our next cl site at Upton on Severn. Being regular visitors we sited ourselves and were pleased to be the only unit on site. What a peaceful contrast to our first site. Weather ideal for the next five days, returning with weather getting a bit colder.

Next trip in four weeks to Norfolk, cl's again but one from the other club.

Glad to hear you had a nice trip but sorry to hear about the weather and the problems you had with your caravan. I hope you have a great time in Norfolk and look forward to hearing about it. Would be great to see some pictures too! Smile
