Birthday Weekend at Sam's Lakes

This story happened on: 25/06/2013

We've just come back from a long weekend at Sam's lakes in Smarden.  The CL and attached fishing lakes were imaculate and the owner could not have been more helpful. We arrived at 730pm on the Friday and were met by Mike who gave us the local information such as where to eat, where not to eat and directions to shops and amenities.

Although we have been on a few rallies with the East Kent Centre (which I must add we enjoy alot) this was actually the first time away in the caravan alone as a family, and the choice of venue proved to be the right one.  Being so close to the fishing meant we were able to nip back to prepare  tea or coffee or even get a sneaky beer without having to pack up our stuff each time.

Sunday was my birthday and Mike was more than accomodating to the surprise visitors that arrived to help me celebrate, allowing them to park in the lake car park.  After they had left and the parents in law took our boy home it allowed myself and wife to enjoy some more fishing and quality time for the next 2 days.

Time came to go home but even that was relaxing.  As the CL had no new arrivals there was no rush to leave so after yet another leisurly morning fishing we packed up and left about 2 in just enoough to get home in time for the boy to get home from school.

So a big thank you to Mike and his wife for making our stay a good one.  We will certainly return and recommend to others.
