Horatio our RV

This story happened on: 08/03/2012

We were fortunate to retire early, and bought a german built sixwheeler motorvan and headed into Europe, travelling France, Spain and Portugal and returning via Austria, Germany and Belgium. We discovered parts of Europe away from the encampments of Brits/Dutch and Germans, to enjoy the benefits of local foods at local prices and some very enjoyable meals, often unsure quite what to expect.

After two years of wandering, we decided it was time to do something a bit more stimulating and financially rewarding and became Park Managers for a large family holiday company, allowing us to visit parts we had not before in Spain, France and mainly Italy. We purchased Horatio our RV and travelled in our mobile apartment settling down  for several months on the Italian Lakeside.Weather was varied during the long seasons and resulted in tents disappearing of down the campsite and the odd flood which was enjoyed by the youngsters, but not such fun for mum and dad.

After working in Italy it was time to have a change of both area and company, so we were fortunate to be selected to work in Switzerland. A beautiful country with spotless lakes and mountain towns. Expensive but stands alone in its cleanliness and lack of crime and with spectacular scenery, impossible to describe.

Manor Farm near Interlaken is a campsite found in the CC European campsites, and is located on the lakeside of Thunersee. Our lifestyle is varied meeting many nationalities. Can be hard work but rewarding.
