First trip to Holland part 3

This story happened on: 18/08/2014

So,here we are, back from the Netherlands. No dramas all week,Jessica returned good mpg (avg 23.5) pulling Roger which doesn't sound a lot I know but for a combined outfit of nearly 4 tonnes I am happy. On the last couple of days we got the bikes out,and made the most of the excellent cycle network around Rijnsburg. We found it to be safe and well marked, and I urge anyone who visits Holland to do the same,it is so bike friendly for those who aren't aware. One great day out was to the Zaanse Schans windmills in Koog aan de Zaan.Parking is a problem but head to the town centre, much easier. We first walked along Lagedijk with the river on our right until we found the ferry across.Well, ferry it says, very small bathtub it was !!! Anyway, one euro per person and a very friendly skipper, and an excellent photo shoot.Walk back along the river (now on your right) and see the windmills close up.You then finish at the tourist shop and the very expensive eating establishments.Word of advice, walk back over Julianabrug, cross Lagedijk into Guisweg and on the left is a very reasonable fast food place,2 good burger and chips and 2 cans for €12.
All in all, a very good trip.Stena ferries were excellent (I recommend getting a cabin),the Koningshof site is fantastic, and the Dutch are so welcoming. Here's to the next time,so much more to see.

Great story PE, would be nice to see some photos.  We are also impressed with Stena and of course very convenient for us using the night crossings
