Winter in Dinard

We travel frequently between the UK and France and often vary our ferry crossing – depending on dates and, of course, the prices.   In recent years we have tried to spend time on our journeys rather than rush.  In early March of this year we decided to spend a few days around the port of Saint Malo and to explore the seaside town of Dinard.

The weather was cold but bright and at times there was a biting wind but we were dressed for cold weather so didn’t mind.    When we have needed to stay overnight waiting for the ferry from Saint Malo we have usually stayed at Campsite de la Halleraise at Taden near Dinan which opens mid March.   Although the only site facilities open at this time of the year are the shower blocks it is a very convenient place to stay.  From the campsite there is a lovely walk down a short path to the River Rance where you can either turn left and follow the walk upstream or turn right and walk into the centre of Dinan, a lovely mediaeval town. 

This time we spent our time in the town of Dinard itself, a short drive away.  Although very quiet at this time of year, the beaches are lovely and there are plenty of walks around the town to explore.
