Touring Cornwall2012

This story happened on: 26/08/2012

well as i have mentioned before my husband is not to keen on the caravan life. so i set of on the 2nd august 2012 with my daughter to to travel the 450 miles to cornwall.  we love cornwall and this is our 7 th summer there.  we stopped of at the caravan club site at Burnham on Sea for 3 nights to break up the journey.  the site was clean and well presented but the weather was dreadful.  on the sunday we where happy to move on .  we had a little problem when trying to hitch up.  dont get me wrong i dont know everything about caravanning but i have been towing for 9 years.  because the pitch was lower than the road my car was sitting way to high for the jockey wheel.  we tried in the rain for about 20 mins with endless sets of eyes watching us from their dry caravans.  in the end i went and asked the wardens if they could help.  he showed me how to put the leg down on the caravan and not use the jockey wheel at all to hitch up.  he did say he would have to put some more gravel on the pitch as it had clearly sunk in the bad weather they had had.  we moved onto a non caravan club site for the next 10 days.  great site - what did i miss about not being on a cc site.  silly really but the low cost we pay for the washing machines on a cc site and the mop and bucket outside the showers.

afer 10 days we moved onto an affiliated site in lands end. -  o deary me - it is the first time since owing our caravan we showed in it.  the wash block on site was a dreadful.  i am sure if it was inspected it would be condemed.  that aside we had a good 6 nights at the location.  and finally the trip home.  we stopped of at henley on thames for 3 nights.  the first thing i did once the electic was on was visit the launderette and 4 washes later we where sorted.  we all take for granted the cc sites but after visitng 4 sites this summer we do have a lot to be greatful for.  and sometimes when the wardens are grumpy and lets face it we have proberly all come across some that are remember they have to put up with us every day of our holiday .
