Lands End to John O Groats

This story happened on: 24/06/2012

Has anyone had any experience of driving a motorhome from Lands End to John o Groats? My husband is 60yrs next year & is going to cycle the end to end. He's going to do it quite slowly, cycling about 50miles per day. I will meet him in Bessie, our motorhome, to enable us to keep the costs of B&Bs down. It also means that we can be more flexible with timings. We plan to do this in May / June. If anyone has done this themselves, or knows someone who has, I would be interested to know where they stayed along the way. We are new to this, having only had Bessie for a few months. I'm still trying to find out where we can stay overnight for free. We can then use CC sites for special occasions!

I cycled the end to end in 2010 with my wife supporting me in a motorhome. We used CC sites and CLs convenient to my route, plus the odd small commercial site when necessary. We paid the standard rate for most of our sites, although some CL owners waived their fee in favour of our chosen charity. All sites were booked in advance. Good luck with the ride.
