My Disabled Guide 2 ( Hythe CC )

This story happened on: 17/01/2014

Disabled Motorhomer.

Previously I wrote about my adventures at the Black Horse Farm site @ Folkestone, now it’s the turn of Hythe CC site, Daleacres, Lower wall road,
West Hythe

Hythe site is a great site if you're an abled bodied person it has a lot to offer, it’s out in the countryside, not to far from the beach and only a couple of miles from Hythe itself, the site itself is well managed, clean, has a good dog walk and all the other amenities of a good CC site.

That aside and not to paint to much of a dark picture, ( it’s not their fault i’m disabled ) it’s a long way to walk to the beach, you would need to drive everywhere and pack up your gear each time you wanted groceries etc, I don’t remember seeing a bus stop anywhere close, I may be mistaken, fortunately I have a ebike now so things are a lot better for me, but for anyone else it would be a difficult task. There is a pub about a mile away that does good food and you can take your dog/s providing you sit outside of course, dodging the wasps...lol.

That’s about it on Hythe CC.

Neither of us are disabled but when we had a motorhome we looked for sites that were either within or very near a town or village or had a convenient bus stop.  Sandringham in Norfolk is good for this as there is a bus stop right at the gate of the site and the bus goes to Kings Lynn one way and Hunstanton the other.  You can then get a bus from Kings Lynn to all sorts of interesting places.  We also liked Morton-in-Marsh and Broadway in the Cotswolds as they are both a 5 minute walk to the town and also Hawes in Yorkshire, ditto. Seacroft near Cromer is another site near the town and with a bus stop. There are quite a few sites which are either near a town or village or have a bus stop near the site.  Once we were set up we didn't like taking our motorhome off site. I suggest a quick chat with the wardens on site berfore booking as they will tell you how near the bus stop/pub/shops are.
