Things that go Bump!

This story happened on: 03/09/2013

I shall be the first to admit be had no business bing in that tiny road in the first place - that's what comes of ingoring Thomas Tom!  Turned the corner and BANG, panic - leapt from car, but could see no damage.  It seems we had hit a very small boulder placed by the householder to protect the corner of her house from being hit.  Proceeded with caution and got out onto the road leading to the main road we should never have turned off from.  BUT within half a mile we ground to a halt (on a single track road), but managed to haul the van into a field gate.  We had clobbered the newly fitted, and never used in anger, power mover and it was pressing on the wheel - did we have any tools? Oh no, but we did have Mayday - in fact had joined since the last trip.   So we put the legs down, , walked the dogs in the field, got the deckchairs, made a picnic, opened a beer (it was a lovely day), read our books - and interspersed with phone calls to Mayday we had a lovely FOUR HOURS waiting for a man with a bag of spanners.  It took ten minutes to effect the repair, and we made our site in time for dinner.  We were lucky - the chap who installed t]he mover asked if we'ed tried to fix it, and with that encouragment, hubby got a long lever and bent it back into shape and it's perfect - and we got £20 back from Mayday for the delay.  - just had to tell you!
