Bogged down and washed out.

This story happened on: 16/02/2012

I.n october 2011 my wife myself and our 7 year old grandson visited a caravan park in Silloth in Cumbria.we were looking forward to the week we were due to stay. The was nicely set out but had no drainage at all,not even roadside drains.Consequently, after heavy rain the whole place was covered in water and with no hardstanding pitches everyone was on grass.People in tents were washed out, caravans could not be moved and I had to . get towed off the grass just to fill my motor home with water. We were towed off again to look for a drier pitch but all were the same.Getting out of the van and onto the road was impossible without wellington boots. The busiest man on the site was the tractor driver who was on the go all the time. Many visitors refused to go on the grass and parked on the road.We were towed off twice during the week and then a third time when we were leaving. This week was so unforgettable that that,s just what I,ve done,I can,t remember the name of the site so I cant warn you off, sorry.

Well i was waiting for the best bit at the end of the story, but it never came as you dont remember the name of the site .

For the last 2 years we tent every now and then we visited High Bank Farm in Poulton , lovely people site basic but you can walk into poulton if you wanted to, but the last time we was in the tent we had rain and the site did not drain hence a very soggy and muddy ground not good when your in a  Tent. We have upgraded to a  Caravan this year just been to Burrs Bury that was fab, my Sister is at Charity Farm in Wrightington for the weekend she has rang me and said itsok but very muddy on the grass, they are in a  a Motorhome .They paid  £17 a  night with no awning bit steep really. Just thought i would let you know about that site in case anyone is thinking of going there .

I had to be towed into a CL recently (as you can see by the state of my van)  I used my Rhyno mover to get out of the fiield and put long planks under the jocky wheel, that was brill.

MORE CL HARD STANDINGS PLEASE! (some of us members like to caravan year round)
