Trip to Derbyshire

This story happened on: 11/11/2016

We left Littlehampton at 11:30 a.m. and proceeded along the A27 until we got to the turn off by Long Furlong. Then along the A280 to join the A24 towards London. Our route then took us along the M25 followed by the M1 northbound.

The journey was a total of 204 miles. Just before we reached our destination, we stopped overninght at the Donington Moto Services. We found parking in the lorry park there. There didn't seem to be any alternative place for caravans. We paid the parking fee of £12.50 at W H Smiths there.

Next morning we starte off early and got to the Truma factory at 07:59 a.m. There was an intercom at the security barrier. After announcing my arrival the security barrier went up to let our outfit through. Then they asked me to reverse into the service bay. Once in, they asked me to unhitch the car and park it on the side infront of the service bay. Then they took us to their canteen and gave us a cup of tea. We also got a bacon bap each for breakfast. The tea was free but we had to pay for the bacon bap, total cost £3.60.

We had ordered a full English breakfast but they came tomtell us that we woukdn't be needing it as the work was completed. So the order was changed to bacon baps instead.

So back on the motorway for our return journey. We stopped once at the services to refuel cost £95. Then a second time for lunch. We had chicken and chips from KFC. We finally reached our destination in Findon, Worthing at 15:00. After pitching the caravan, e decided to leave the awning until next day as it was pouring with rain on arrival and cold too!

Filled up with fuel on the motorway. Bigger wallet than me lol! Presume you had major problem with Truma - travelling from south coast and back with an overnight on a motorway service station?

There is good parking fo caravan's at Donington services, you just needed to drive further round. They are right in front of the lorry wash. You would have driven past the caravan lanes as you left.
