Seasonal pitch or touring?

That's just the way to do it, J. When I retired we invested in a static caravan on a small family run site down in Cornwall which we can use for 11 months of the year. A few of the vans are owned by folk who have sold up, live there permanently then go of to somehwere warm in February when the site's closed. So we've got to now them very well. But we kept our tourer because we wanted to be able to get to other places around the country which we do throughout the year. We know we ae lucky to be able to do this. It really is the best of both worlds. (Our friends here at home joke about us using the house as a "holiday home" now!)

How many sites have seasonal pitches blocking space for tourers. Is that why some sites are difficult to book or are they only on sites that are in areas that are not popular

The site where are seasonal pitch is on has different fields, one for seasonal, one for longer touring, one for weekend tourers and one for campers. It is not a Caravan Club site though but only got planning if the site was set up this way. I was on Rowntree Park over Christmas and New year and 90% of the time had spare pitches with people cancelling last minute, could this not be the reason popular sites are difficult to book?
