From Norway, with motorhome in UK

This story happened on: 07/08/2014

After almost two years of planning we were ready for our first trip to England/Scotland with our motorhome, a Fiat/Miller, seven meters long.

We were looking forward to travel UK in the same way we have been travelling most of west Europa the last ten years.

Starting in Sandnes, Norway through Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and France with no problems we entered England through Eurotunnel.

We normally are touring countries by trying to avoid highways and motorways. This because we want to explore nature and country life, not only trailers and traffic!

This lead us in to narrow roads with trees and bushes growing almost into the road.  Instead of some space outside the white line it seem as the white line was used as the mark where to cut trees and bushes!

Overseas we are also used to find Rest spaces, where we can sit down, drink our coffee, eat our food or just relax. During our two weeks, we found only one – 1- site like this. This was in Scotland by the way.

All possible stops were at Parking places. There were no possibilities to sit outside the car, almost not possible to walk our little dog.

When arriving towns or villages we could not find any parking space for our motorhome. All parking spaces were small and narrow, special the entrances.

So, although we had a few weeks nice travel, we were very much surprised over road standard and the poor conditions for road travellers like us.

Sorry to say, but never more caravanning in UK for us.

By the way, all campsites of some size were of very high standard.
