Dangers in traffic queues when towing

This story happened on: 20/08/2012

Looking in my local newspaper, the Eastern Daily Press, a car towing a caravan on the A12 at Darsham in north Suffolk negotiating a railway level crossing ended up with the barrier coming down between the car and the caravan! Fortunately there was no train due, and the incident is being investigated - could it be that there was a queue, and the barrier came down after the car, due to sensors not realising there was a caravan being towed?
