Xmas break

This story happened on: 11/01/2014

After working away from home for 11 of the last 12 weeks I couldnt wait to get away in t'van over xmas and the new year.

We went to Wharfedale for the umpteenth time but that is because we love the area and the club site is great for our needs.

The weather was cold but nowhere as cold as it has been there in the past where we have had to get the hair dryer on the frozen pipes in the morning, we managed to put the full awning up although that needed strapping down and checking every morning.

Xmas day the lovely couple next door invited us in to their van for drinks and a chat at night, all the best Berni and Charlie for a lovely evening.

We had to leave on the 29th because the site was full for new year so then we made our way to Nottingham to a ccc site.

My parents were staying at my sisters nearby so we all spent new year together which was great.

We got home on the 3rd of Jan and I went off away again the the 5th, cant wait till home again mid Feb where we will book another break to relax and unwind.

Hi Andy - sorry we missed you we arrived on the 29th!

We enjoyed New Year - our first time out at this time of year - and will do it again in the future. Due to cancellations though the site had vacancies all over New Year.

Glad you had a good time Andy. We fancied Bridlington but that too was fully booked.

It is dissapointing to learn there were cancellations all ove New Year at Wharfdale, you coul have stayed but then you would have missed your family. I wonder if that is common all over the Club's network at Christmas & New Year?

Regards, Roy

Hi Riggers and roysharon.

Yes I think it is pretty common at that time of year, pity really as I know friends who wanted to go there as they are an hour away but its quick enough for work.

For us it ended great cause of family reasons, will be back when it opens as its a great area.

Cant blame some folk when the weather is really bad but we made it out and then had a 2 hour journey in the high winds, just makes you wonder but its their choice.
