Wonderful Wonderful Wharfedale

This story happened on: 29/10/2012

Well weve just got back from a good stay at Wharfedale and have to say what a fantastic place it is, the wardens were excellent the pith was big and the whole area is magnificent

We started off trying to put our new full awning up, I was working away when the O/H got it and she obviously didnt listen to the instructions given to her, I saw another van turn up and he hadd a similar awning so I watched him put it up, he said to give him an hour and he's come and help which he did and it was up in no time,.

W.e also had a problem with the heater which I managed to fix after 3 hours and then another fellow vanner mentioned the fuse which I checked and needed a replacement, he kindly gave us a spare so many thanks go to the 2 kindly neighbours for their help which was much appreciated.

One day we walked for miles and got stuck on the wrong side of the river looking for a crossover point, we asked a local lady walking her dogs and she said it would take us at least an hour and half to reach the site, 15 mins later she stopped her car and gave us a lift to the site entrance, what a lovely gesture from a complete stranger.

The site is in prime location for exploring the Dales and even the local area, we love walking the dog and there is no shortage of walks where you can walk for miles often without seeing another sole.

The surrounding villages are great and we always buy some local fresh produce.

The weather was actually quite good for the time of year and one can sit and enjoy a pint or two in or outside the local pubs where one is made to feel welcome.

Our previous best place to visit for having everything that we want in and around a site (and there are a few) but Riverside at Lower Bentham ticks all the boxes (BOB site) we have to say and we both agree that Whafredale is now our favourite, its within an hour and quarter drive and has the lot, the only downside is it isnt open all year round.

Will we be back ? You bet we will and very soon indeed.

Agreed it is an excellent site - the only mini problem we have is we have to negotiate through either Leeds or Bradford to get there! However once pitched it is in a fabulous part of the country with loads of 'outdoor' activities within a few miles.
