I Love my Kindle

This story happened on: 08/06/2013

I really do love my Kindle (other brands are available!) However when it was first suggested to me that I have an electronic book reader I was far from convinced. I liked the feel of a proper book in my hands. I liked visiting libraries and browsing the shelves for books I had not read. I also had the irrational fear that all libraries would close down if I stopped visiting!!

Another plus side is that it has enhanced my computer knowledge. It has taught me how to search for books online, especially free ones, but also to buy them online and download them onto the device. Amazon has a very useful function, especially for us older ones, that it tells you if you have purchased the book in the past so you don’t buy it twice! I have even successfully archived my read books into a separate folder although someone had to help me with that!

Best of all, at least OH thinks so, is that I am not taking a box of books with me on holiday, so more room for clothes or as someone else has suggested more wine!!!

I feel the same about my kindle. We are off to France next week and I am busily loading plenty of books as the weather doesn't sound great. It makes it so much easier to take all the reading material you want without the usual comments about weight!

When I finally get through the backlog of books to read at home, I might just join the Kindlings!!Happy

I have to agree with you GeordieLass. I was also adverse to getting a kindle and was sure I would not get on with them as I love the look and feel of paper books. However, I couldn't be without my kindle now. The e-ink works well, it's light and it's easy to download books. I love browsing amazon and I don't need to worry that I might run out of books whilst on holiday - well as long as I don't forget my charger!! Smile
