No room for the dog

For a vicar to take time off with stress I needed to get out of the vicarage for a few days. Our usual doggy-minders were away so we took Blaze, our ageing German Shepherd with us. We mostly use Club Sites but as this was only for a few days we tried "Magnolia" a delightful CL near Gloucester which was a lovely peaceful site (see our review) but we had very little peace inside the van!  We definitely should have taken the awning with us. As you will see from the pic Blaze is rather large and being a typical German Shepherd he wanted to be right there with us in the van, all the time. Everywhere we turned he was there. The widest part of the van is the galley so there he plonked himself, where we couldn't open the fridge or the cooker, and midnight trips to the loo were like an assault course. My wife's balancing act as she tried to pass my hot dinner over the dog was a site to behold. I guess we'll look back in years to come and have a good laugh, but as a relaxing, stress-free mini-break this turned out to be disastrous!

That reminds me of our old Labradors, you're never alone with a Labrador in the kitchen and in the van they love it as food is never far away....glad to hear you didn't trip over him and hope it wasn't really a total disaster. Sounds like a nice CL. smile

Dog owners will like this story but only German Shepherd Owners will truly understand it.

Our last trip with Mickey our large springer spaniel was the same but having recently bought the newest van we've ever had I was determined to have some rules. No going on the upholstery, no sleeping on the end of our bed , no this no that. The rules lasted about an hour at best. My wife then reminded me that I got the van for the purpose of taking Mickey with us on holiday as I found it hard to relax when we went anywhere without him so it was important he enjoyed himself as well. Being a springer though he has some favourite activities that I definitely don't encourage.
