Have you dreamt of writing your own book...? A guide to publishing for free

Have you dreamt of writing your own book…and having it published for Free?

Sitting in your caravan or motor home on a rainy afternoon doing the crossword and dreaming of what might be? Many of us think that we have a book in our brains waiting to get out! Crime thriller, local history, cookbook, or whatever.

Well, you may not believe that this is possible, and actually, downright easy to achieve. Not the writing of it, I agree, but the publishing has taken a very bright turn for us would-be thespians.

I have recently finished my manuscript and had a fair amount of optimistic replies from conventional publishers but it never quite matched their house style, content size or whatever. I was dissuaded from self-publishing as that is very expensive….and now unnecessary.

CreateSpace.com is the answer. Within a week of the start process my book was available for all to buy worldwide! And I get a royalty payment of approximately 20% on every book sold. My Good Bladder Guide has been sold both in the UK and USA.

CreateSpace is an Amazon company. Everything is very clear from the minute you enter the site. There is no cost involved as long as you can upload your book without their help. On my first upload I had about twenty faults that needed fixing. I was able to do these over the next few days. Once it was printable, a real person on the Amazon payroll glanced through it to give it the OK. This took about 48 hours. I then received an e-mail saying I could now choose a cover and then Amazon put it on sale. The local library has even bought some copies.

Amazon make 80% of the selling price but my monthly royalty payments are still amusing us. I can visit the site daily to see if anyone else has bought my book.

Do give it a try. It certainly is one of the most rewarding things I have done. Check out my book on Amazon to prove to yourself that it is possible. “The Good Bladder Guide” by Jacqueline Hearn.
