The atmosphere in the car after Henley was a little frosty to say the least. The Human That I Own told me that he'd seen positive reviews about the Dog Walk at Cadeside in Somerset on Club Together, but I was going to reserve judgement this time.
Cadeside made the ideal place for us to stop for the night on our long journey West to Cornwall. It's only a couple of minutes from the M5. There are only 16 pitches and no facility block, but the Human always uses the 'ensuite' in the Tin Can on Wheels anyway, as he says it prevents having to leave me alone in the van while he goes off to shower. Huh, I think he's still trying to get round me.
Anyway, we arrived without a booking after 6pm, yet the lovely warden still checked us in in under a minute flat with no fuss and a friendly welcome. I liked her.
Once the Human had set up the Tin Can on Wheels, we went off to check out the dog walk.
OK, I have to say that he's now forgiven. I was quite impressed. The dog walk spans three sides of the ENORMOUS storage area, and it takes about five minutes to stroll from the gate to the end of it. Or a bit longer if, like me, you like playing ball. There was just enough space to play ball in a 'straight line', as the walk is a path through pretty shrubs and trees. And the wardens have even put chippings down to make the path all the way through, so there were no muddy paws to worry about.
A ten-minute round trip isn't really enough for many dog's daily exercise, so we're not talking as good as Commons Wood or Alderstead Heath. But it's a wonderful facility for a site that can take a maximum of 16 units. Cadeside is a site definitely worthy of a waggy tail, and I score it three bones out of five.
The Human is - almost - forgiven.
