city of york

We have tried to book ROWNTREE PARK in YORK about 3 or 4 times and as it is always very busy we had no luck. Took a chance and phoned the site and low and behold we were in luck. ( site booked ) Advice is to make a call to the site as website cant update quick enough to make a booking. The vans seem as if they are close together but it depends where you are on the site. Choose carefully if you can. It is a 10 walk from the site into york so no driving and everything is on your doorstep. GREAT.  Warden also gave good advice on the morning of departure as what route to take out of york heading north which saved a lot of time and fuel. The site was immaculate even after high winds and torrential rain so the site wardens are worth their weight in gold. Will be back at some point even if its a stopover going north or south. Scarborough/ whitby and the moors are a short drive away. Good site so give it a go.

We have booked a few nights next year. It's a while since we have stayed there but there is no need to take the Caterham with us because the site is so close to the city.
