Guess the Mystery Object!

This story happened on: 07/08/2012

Spotted recently at Low Moor Caravan Club Site near Whitby was this mysterious object perched precariously atop the fence of the wardens compound. It was difficult to miss but what exactly was it?

It got my wife and I playing guessing games I can tell you!

Was it piece of modern art created especially to celebrate the Cultural Olympiad that somehow failed to make the journey to Stratford? My wife's best guess was that it was some sort of elaborate composter that the warden had designed and with which he hoped to make his fortune in the new green economy. For a while I honestly thought it was an attempt to build a full-scale model of a Dalek to welcome and entertain junior visitors. On a more sinister note I did wonder if the Caravan Club had joined forces with RAF Fylingdales from down the road and were helping out by tracking potential ballistic missile attempts during the Olympics!

Sadly, a closer inspection of the terrible eye-sore revealed a much more mundane explanation as can be see in my second photo. It is simply a somewhat crude attempt to raise a domed satellite dish high enough to receive a TV signal rather than actually install it on the roof of the caravan!

Obviously TV reception must be a real problem at this site
