We Like Galicia!

This story happened on: 09/09/2014

We've had our eyes opened to the beauty of the western shores of Galicia. The seascapes of the Rias (estuaries) are delightful. Here at Cangas we're looking out across the Ria de Vigo and out to the Cies islands. We got the last pitch at Camping Limens above the Playa de Limens at Cangas del Morranzo (ACSI 16€ #2382): all but a few of the touring pitches seem to be taken up with semi-permanent caravans.

But we're not far from the beach

Yesterday, we walked along the shore

To Cangas where we caught the ferry to Vigo

where we walked around the old town, had lunch ( don't ask)

and caught the ferry back to Cangas.

Vigo is  the biggest fishing port in Europe, and taking the trip to Cangas and its beaches , or to the islands, is very popular.

We cant do justice to this area as our visit is a brief one, but here are two links which may be of interest.

Islands

P.S The 19th stage of La Vuelta finishes here in Cangas on Friday.

Hi Chas & Cath,

Glad Cath managed to get back into the water again. It was around 39 years ago when I last entered Vigo on a large ship and my memories are of an impressive vista, very green and lots of trees. That was one of the reasons we had it on our agenda earlier in the year, until the rains came. Glad you are enjoying it all and I am pleased to be seeing some photos of what I missed! Regards, Roy
