Summer Music

This story happened on: 02/07/2013

We had a great finish to our second stay at La Croix Valmer: on Saturday and Sunday the village held its music festival – ‘Les Anches d’Azur’. We took the free bus up to the village where the roads were closed to allow a German youth orchestra and an Italian street band to march and play.

We then walked down the path from village to the beach to hear the Vancouver youth band playing medleys of tunes from theatre and cinema ( including ‘Indiana Jones’ of course).

But the ‘stars’ were the ‘Large Street Band’ from Italy. Their combination of funky jazz and showmanship brought rounds of applause from an appreciative audience of all ages. We liked them so much that we stayed an extra day to see their performance by the beach on the Sunday.

To gauge how much we liked them, our extra day on site cost us €36 as ACSI ran out at Sunday!

Haven’t found out what ‘Les Anches’ means yet – it’s not in our dictionary

My family and I were there for the music festival. We loved it. Did you happen to watch the evening concert of Friday June 28 at the town's amphitheatre? Cheers.

It was good jazzlvr, wasn't it! We missed the Friday concert as we were dependent on the free bus service to get up to the town. We didn't fancy walking back to the campsite late in the evening.

'Anches' are the reeds in woodwind instruments.
