Postcard from Saint Clair

St Clair is a small and charming seaside resort on the Côte d’Azur. It’s set in a small bay with a backdrop of wooded hills which seem to hold back the clouds. The sandy beach is about half a mile long and has beach restaurants and a diving school.  Police lifeguards are on duty morning and afternoon. Today the air temperature was about 26C while the sea was a refreshing 20C.

 On the promenade there are small hotels, restaurants and bistro bars. In the old village beyond the main road, there is a leaf-shaded bar, and a mini market - ‘Chez Annie’. However, if you need more shops and activity, the larger and busier resort of Le Lavandou is just around the headland with its port, marina, and beach. You can get there on a dedicated cycle path or walk around the cliffs to the port, if you don’t want to drive.

 ‘Caravanning St Clair’ is a family-run campsite just 100 metres from the beach. The Martini family ensures that the site and its facilities are always in top notch condition. The original site has high mature hedges and trees: the ‘new’ site has been open about 8 years and the trees and hedges are now maturing and supplying summer shade. The pitches are large enough to accommodate caravans, awning and cars and still leave living space. You can also hire domestic fridges to place in your awning as absorption fridges don’t work very well in consistently high temperatures.

 Caravanning St Clair is listed in CC book under ‘Le Lavandou’. Everyone who comes here, has to come back another year! It’s our favourite site in all of France.
