Postcard from Cavalaire sur Mer #2

This story happened on: 18/06/2012

It’s sunny and warm, here at Cavalaire. The sea temperature has recovered to about 18C after the strong winds last week. All the campsites in the town are said to be full, and word has it that there isn’t much room on any site in the Var.

We plan to stay here until after ‘Les Feux de St Jean’ (bonfire and fireworks) which takes place on the 24th June. Meanwhile, we’re filling our days with walks to the Calanque, watching visiting Yachts down at the port, afternoons on the beach, and sipping a glass or two of Rosé in the evening.

Here are some more photos for our postcard collection.

Loved the picture with the dogs. We are planning on a trip to France next year. What do you have to do to be able to take a dog in and out of the country/ Trouble is we bought a dog from a rescue home about 3 months ago. It's a Staffyy which I didn't really want but she had such a good write-up being good with other animals and children that we ended up taking her home. I know I have seen one site where Staffy's were one of the banned breeds. Strange thing is, the amount of people who stop to stroke her and say how friendly she is makes me wonder why they have such a bad press. I have never met an aggressive Staffy but plenty of nippy Jack Russels and Terriers - although I like those breeds too.

Linzndel, glad you liked the doggy photo. Our 'dog' is the one with the plastic chain: he too gets pats on the head, even from grownups as well as children. We hope you have a lovely trip to France and that you don't have a problem with your dog being  a 'Staffy'. Why don't you start a discussion on the Overseas section about taking him/her abroad. There will be plenty of folk able to give you good advice.

We love the South of France, and and stay at 'Prairies de la Mare', by the beach at Port Grimaud! We have been to the beach at Cavaliere and love it there!

We've been to Prairies de la Mer -we liked the direct access to the beach. Cycled to the port and had a day trip by boat to St Tropez!!

Noel, hope you have a great time and find some good sites. ACSI starts on 1 Sep for many sites including Prairies de la Maire which Loubie recommends ( see above). We're at St Clair right now with our grandsons for a family holiday, but will be moving along the coast in September - might see you along the way!

noel, hope you had a good holiday at Club Marina. We'll look it up for future reference. We've moved on a bit and we're now down in Croatia - but we're retired and so we don't have to get back to work. Thanks for keeping in touch -safe journey home.

Hi we are looking to return to France next year and wondered if any members had stayed at Les Pinedes at Colle Sur Loup?  We are not particularly beach people but enjoy walking into a village for a beer before dinner to watch the world go by.  Les Pinedes appealed to us for it's proximity to Nice as we are hoping our Daughter and Son in Law will fly out from their home in Holland for a week.  Cheers Lorraine
