Summer Holidays (part 1

This story happened on: 10/08/2014

Only two weeks away from our three week break and we decide to change the 2 berth lunar Quaser for a 4 berth Swift Challenger 565 SE.  Will be ready for pick up on the Thursday before we travel, giving us 4 days to get everything back in.  Got it back to where we store it, time to put everything away, it’s surprising how much stuff you can get into a white box. Different layout meant deciding what went where.

By Tuesday everything was in and what wasn’t we probably didn’t need. Our first stay was at Broadway for two nights. O/H had decided to avoid motorways and to travel on the A40 and other A and B roads to get us there, I trusted his judgement and left him to it and sat back to admire the scenery.  Soon realised why he choose this route as he was able to stop outside Brecon for a Bacon Roll and Tea, well actually his excuse was to let he dog stretch his legs, but as we were here it would be rude not to support them.

Stomach full and bladder empty we continued our journey.

The route planning helped as we arrived on site via the diversions without any problems, although it took us 4.5 hours to get there. We found a lovely pitch at the higher level and after pitching up we went into the town to get something to eat and window shop.  After the long journey we turned in early eager to see if the Duvelay mattress lived up to the advertising promise. It did, what comfort, don’t know if it was the long journey, wine or mattress but I slept like a log.

Woke up to bright sunshine and took the dog for his morning walk. The bonus for the road closure was hardly any traffic so we had a long quiet walk along the road.  Back to the van for breakfast which I hoped would be waiting for me, wrong, and decide what the plan was for the day. It was to be a leisurely day, we walked into Broadway, O/H spotted the Wine shop and decided to buy a few bottles of Merlot to enjoy, no sign of any white for me.  Stopped for morning coffee and biscuits and bought some pasties and salad for lunch before heading back to the van.  The afternoon was spent reading, knitting and dog walking. Had a lovely chat with the neighbours, we have always been lucky with our neighbours on site, only to discover that she had Welsh connections.

Retired early for an early start for Peterborough.
