Personally I prefer to be out and about rather than hang around the site. Like you,  I like people watching, we all do, but I like to observe without criticising but to appreciate how diverse our lifestyles are.  If someone wants to wash their 'van then fair play as long as they don't walk over to you and ask you why you are not washing your 'van.

When i first witnessed someone washing their van whilst away I thought it was a bit bizarre, I then realised they may be in a similar situation to ourselves, our caravan is in storage, as we dont have adequate land to keep it at home, there isnt any option of washing it at home, and to wash at the storage site it costs £12, so i can see sense in washing it whilst away, you can almost get another night stay on site for £12..... I may give ours a quick wash when next away, each to their own I say, live and let live, and enjoy your caravanning experience, whatever floats your boat Happy

I try to wash my van, partly through pride of ownership and wanting to keep it looking smart and because we have to keep it in storage, our circumstances being that we are unable to visit it and clean whilst in the store. Each to their own I say, it is not for us to reason why!

The only time I will wash the caravan when away is the front only usually to get rid of the pesky flies and such like, who have thrown themselves in front of me.Cool

My partner always washes the side of the caravan where the awning is going when we arrive on site especially after a long  journey. He does the front and windows ususally the next day(while breakfast is cooking) it doesn't take long and its pride in your outfit. Are we sad ?

Not sad at all in my opinion, probably like a lot of others and have nowhere else to wash it, you can't wash on my storage compound and I can't get it outside my home so uit leaves very little option if you want a tidy van.

When  arriving at a site after travelling on many country  roads used by farm tractors I always make a point of washing the caravan to  remove any accumilated mud , it also demonstrates that I take a pride in my caravan, after all it only takes a few minutes

I set out from home with my caravan nice and clean, and if it rains en route to a site I must confess that I give it a quick water wash before I set it up (as it is a folding caravan there is less wall area to wash!) and I can reach the roof- I don't like seeing the caravan all dirty every time I come back to it on site- and I hope that it will be dry on the journey home so that I can just set it up on the brickweave area in front of the house without having to wash it before I go back to work.... Smile
