Broken down in France

This story happened on: 16/04/2013

At this time of year I thought I might let you know how fantastic the Red Pennant insurance is and well worth taking out.

Last September we took our usual trip to France for about a month.  We had a new car and expected no problems as we have been travelling around Europe for the last 23 years towing a caravan.  Unfortunately we broke down on day 3, south of Paris.  The Car just died.  We phoned CC and the response was fantastic with our car being taken to the nearest dealer and our caravan to a nearby site.  It was fixed in two days and we set off again heading further sout but near the end of the day tha car died again(electrical fault).  TH CC were again fantastic as were all the tow people and garages.  The car went to the dealer and we went to a site.  The car took longer this time - a week.

We continued south again and unfortunately the same problem occured again.  We were now a little frustrated, but the CC came to our rescue and agreed to get our car to an english dealer and our caravan back home so that we could finish our holiday in France. with a hire car and staying in hotels.

Since returning our car has been fixed and works fine.  But our experience reminded us why year in year out no matter how short the holiday is always take out Red Pennant  insurance for peace of mind when traveling abroad.

We had to use Red Pennant some years ago when we had an accident in our motorhome.  They were wonderful.  I made a phone call to them and within 20 minutes a breakdown truck had arrived and when we got to their depot we were told to ring them again when a bi-lingual lady took charge and arranged a hire car and accommodation for us.  We were in France for a week waiting to see if our motorhome could be repaired there (it couldn't) and we were able to stay in a lovely Logis in the area  with a hire car and then a breakdown truck arrived from England with a Nissan X Trail for us to travel back to England. The breakdown truck then took our motorhome back to England. They also changed our ferry booking. We were taken care of the whole of the time and kept up to date with what was happenign via phone calls. We would never consider travelling to France without Red Pennant insurance.  We also have Mayday insurance for this country and wouldn't travel without it.
