Festival of Light

This story happened on: 02/12/2016

I expect some of you will be heading for the CC Longleat site over the festive season. It's well worth seeing the annual Festival of Light. This year we joined our son and family for an evening visit to Longleat. They had a season ticket this year as they live nearby and we bought twilight tickets. This gave us entry from 3.30pm, the lights switched on around 4pm. We got there early enough to see the small animal section, a couple of Porcupines were having their supper and the Meerkats were getting ready for bed.

After that we met our family by the large lion statue outside the house and watched the lights come on (these lanterns are made by a Chinese display company.) then we went inside to see the Edwardian Christmas displays complete with actors dressed for the part. In the main hall the costumes from the Royal Ballet "Tales from Beatrix Potter" were on display and some of her precious first edition books were on show too.

Our son, daughter in law and grandson went off for a pre-booked trip on the Santa Express, they vanished for nearly an hour so we went into one of the cafes for a coffee and cake. We eventually got together for another walk around, the lights were very attractive and we certainly had a good evening out at Longleat.
