Crich Tramway Village

This story happened on: 16/04/2014

We recently enjoyed a stay at Standcliffe House CL in Crich www.crichcaravans.com

This nice little CL is right alongside Crich Tramway Village a very interesting museum for tram enthusiasts or just tourists like us who had an enjoyable visit with plenty to see. The tram rides started with being given an old penny each in reception which could be exchanged for old style tickets on all the trams available that day. There are walks and refreshments, old lead mine workings and some pleasant views of the Derbyshire countryside.

Crich is a nice village, there is a good bus service outside the CL for trips to Matlock and further afield. Don't forget your Great Days Out vouchers for reduced entry to the museum.

The photos include the museum and a view from the CL up to Crich Stand.

Thanks both of you, Mr Brue enjoyed seeing an unrenovated tram from Warwick/Leamington Spa (his home area.) Yes they do the two for one offer so don't forget to print out your vouchers or order the booklet. Forgetting to do this cost us an extra £10! My booklet has just arrived in the post, I ordered it on line on return from our break, better remember to put it in the van now!

That looks a good place to visit Brue. We have some similar trams or the electric type in Hull's Transport Museum, I used to love to sit on it and listen to a recording of conversations on the tram from bygone days. I cannot remember ever seeing them in action myself but love to see the photographs of the centre of Hull with all the trams running around and the people. Regards, Roy

Crich Tramway is a even better place to visit when they have a 1940's or war time days with loads of people dressed up in clothes of the period adding to the ambience .
