A comfortable walk in the mountains. Edinburgh

This story happened on: 19/09/2017

Hi camperspvaners . I was camping in Broughton Heights an hour from Edinburgh a month or so ago. Fantastic holiday of just one night and two days. I parked the camper (Ida) in the village hall car park where you are welcome to stay. I had a good nights sleep after a decent meal of fried up vegetables.

I set off early on a frosty morning with the sound of deer baying not so far away in the mountains. The air was pure and the streams which wound their way down the hillsides, glistened in the early morning sun. I soon warmed up and had to take a layer off. A skein of geese arrowed their way noisily between the tops of the mountains. I heard the croaky voice of a Raven and thought I saw a glimpse of it disappearing over a ledge.

The track was clear with good walking possible. After an hour and a half I stopped for lunch . I chose a spot which overlooked the valley. It was so quiet I could hear birds wings fluttering in the undergrowth. Eventually I dragged myself slowly back to the valley floor. When I arrived back in Broughton I found a great cafe where I enjoyed delicious maccheese. I can't remember the name but there's only one cafe in the village. Great few days. I will return .
