New England Bay, Dumfries and Galloway

This story happened on: 16/07/2015

We discovered this delightful site when travelling to Northern Ireland a few years ago, we arrived at Stranrear only to find the Belfast Ferry had been blown off and postponed until the next day.  No problem a quick call to the Club from our mobile and we were directed to the New England Bay CC Site and given the Post Code for our Satnav and off we went.  What a surprise when we arrived at this lovely site, the only problem was you could hardly stand up in the wind, but we got our pitch and settled down for a bumpy night after having availed ourselves of the mobile chippy.  The next day our journey continued successfully but we always said we would like to go back but never did.  However last April when on the way back from Northern Ireland in our Motorhome when decided to pay it a visit for the night and it was during a spell of lovely weather and we were rewarded with a lovely clear night sky with little wind a truly restful and lovely evening was enjoyed.  If you get the chance please visit as you will appreciate this wonderful rugged site, you can also take advantage of a day trip to Belfast and explore its rich heritage.

We are staying for a week at the start of August after going to N Ireland next week. We have passed the site but never stayed and really looking forward to a fantastic break in this lovely area. Fingers crossed for the weather!
