Photo Experiment

This story happened on: 03/05/2017

Following David Klyne's comment on a story, about the ease of adding photos to the stories section I'll give it a go. Searched my phone for something good to use and found the attached, assuming they load.

Taken to show my mum, who hasn't visited New Zealand, how the stock looks in one of the cheaper supermarket Pak&Save.. Taken about 10.30am, they open 7am to 10pm seven days a week and it usually looks as good as this whenever you visit. Even the onions have their flaky skins removed as they start to come off to ensure they look tempting.

I'm going to post this but I can't upload photos direct from my phone because of the 500kb limit. No facility on my phone a Samsung S5, so not stupidly old, to reduce them as far as I can see, but I'm open to learn  a how to if someone knows. But I don't want to use another platform.

I completely agree that photos enhance a story but for those of us who are not fantastically IT literate, I'm used to using Word and other computer programmes, I need to do as I do in Facebook - very very occasionally but often in  fb private messenger or sending as a text, which is to select the photo, click on share, choose the way I want to share - email, text, messenger etc, add a caption if I want to or just send. Job done! However not on this site so you'll have to visit New Zealand or use your imagination. Sorry. 😉

If it's any help B2 I found this link about editing photos on an S5. I tend to edit the size on my phone or laptop well in advance otherwise I run out of time to post.

Brue thanks for the link. I use that for editing before printing if necessary. To load up on here I can't go straight into the gallery as far as I can see. So it's do all that, save as an actual file, then find it and attempt to add again. Meanwhile as i did earlier I  lost the actual post I'd  written 😤. Life's too short! But I may give it a try but probably not right now, but however I crop etc I can't reduce the kb.

I probably won't be popular for saying this but I don't think this forum was ever conceived to run successfully of smart phones. I suspect those that designed it had computers in mind. I am still old fashioned in that I use a desktop at home and a laptop whilst away as I find other means rather limiting so have not bothered with them. I do use my phone for the internet when nothing else is available but would not attempt trying to write a story or upload photos from it. If there was a photo on my phone I wanted to use I would just e-mail it to myself and edit on the PC.

Test. David I've tried emailing to myself after reducing down to 10% to get kb low. It seems to work with a good faff. Didn't consider emailing to self.......... if the club is looking to the future it really needs to get to grips with present technology let alone the future technology 😉

Sorry for slightly out if focus one with hubby in it but I had to prove the store was actually open 😉.

This is now my third attempt at posting 😤😭 I think it's the site being soooo slow to load I'm getting timed out 😤😤😤. Each photo has to be added singularly!

We need to be able to insert photos in line to stories and discussions, just as you would in a 'word' document or email.

It might seem to be a bit long winded but the more you do it the easier it becomes. Hopefully when I get to write another story I will be able to use Chas's method as well as the Club provision. I used to be able to insert a photo into a Windows Live Mail e-mail but rather than send I would copy and paste into here but unfortunately it no longer works.

I think this proves just how difficult it is for many people to post photos easily on here and the ones who can find a way round it succeed by their own ingenuity.

Pleased you managed it Bakers2. Earlier on with CT we had distorted photos and all sorts of disappointing results. The time out is the biggest barrier. I don't use word to post on here so I'm limited to very fast posting, finding the photos quickly and even faster editing. Not easy.
