Hillhead, Devon Club Site

This story happened on: 27/08/2012

Taking our daughter and her 2 sons away for a holiday, keeping the boys amused within a safe environment, is never going to be easy. We first went together in 2010 to Seacroft, Cromer. A great site close to the town centre and sea, but football games were only possible if the site was not full.

In 2011 we decided to go to a large commercial site near St Ives in Cornwall. This was voted a huge success, although I was unhappy with poor water and waste facilities. The journey through Cornwall on the A30 was horrendous both ways, so this year we opted for Hillhead.

My wife and I had been to Hillhead before, so knew what to expect. Our grandsons are now teenagers, and it was with some trepidation that we returned!  We need not have worried - the pool tables were (very) well used; the life guards at the swimming pool willingly let the boys swim in the rain on our last day; the shop and bar were well used: and the dedicated football field was popular.  The boys made lots of friendships, so thank you Caravan Club, for a great holiday, voted the best ever!
