This site is perfect for being a first or last stop from the ferry crossing at Caen, just 45mins away.
we also visited Bayeux from here which is a lovely town although very sobering with regard to the war graves.
There is a small village within walking distance with a small grocery store for basic essentials.
Note, the site does NOT provide any, not even bread or croissants!
The site itself has lovely large pitches, we had one backing onto some kind of factory, which did have some traffic noise overnight. However this didn't detract from the overall experience.
The facilities are smashing and there's a lovely outside space to enjoy a drink or meal.
The only disappointment here, was the menu options are nearly all fried, not what we were looking forward to on our first night in gastronomic France!! Especially as its in the Camembert region. The deep fried camembert is not recommended!!
In fact I would suggest the owners remove items they can't do justice to, maybe concentrate on the burgers, which I believe are very good.
We used this site for a 3 day stopover on our way back to the channel ports. It was easy to find, just a few km off the autoroute and easily accessible. We had a serviced pitch in zone C which was OK. Most of the pitches in this area are fine but ours needed several levelling blocks to get us level. The toilet /shower facilities were very good and always clean. The site has a small bar and a very good restaurant. We ate there every night and the food was good and reasonably priced. The site wifi was also good. The site does not have a pool so may not suit some families but for us it was a lovely place to stay and we would happily return if needing a site in that area.
We spent a week here in May 2023 on a short break to visit the D Day Beaches and see the Bayeux Tapestry. This is a lovely little site (about 50 pitches) set in a large village just off the motorway but far enough for noise not to be a problem. The site is owned and directly managed by a British Couple who cannot do enough to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The facilities are all recently refurbished and of a high standard and they have a lovely restaurant bar which serves one of the best burgers I have eaten in many a year. The village appears to welcome the Brits as seems the 11th Armoured Corps liberated them in 1944 and there is an excellent, interesting museum in the village that is well worth a visit. We would certainly return and we cannot but recommend "Under he Normandy Stars Campsite" most highly.
