Excellent!

We stayed here for 2 weeks in September 2017, and were given a pitch overlooking the river by the manager who spoke some English. Reviewers should remember that this is a different country, they are not obliged to speak English! Site facilities are brilliant, and it took a matter of moments to work out where to get water from etc etc. It is easy to get the 30% off the boats, just ask when you book at their office, where they speak excellent English. When you are guided to your pitch, another chap connects your electric to a locked point, it is not an issue, and this gent is very friendly and helpful, and he really took a liking to lour two dogs! Excellent site, Rudesheim itself is no more that a 15 minute walk along the river.

Disappointed

We arrived for a 1 night stay enroute to Rotterdam from Italy. We arrived and the lady on reception spoke no English and she got another non English speaking gentlemen to take us to our site. No details of where the toilet or drinking water ar anything else was given as no one spoke English. The pitches where very cramped and not sure if staying for more than one night we would have fitted an awning in. I must say the toilet and shower facilities are excellent more like a spa than a toilet block but prehaps this site is better suited to a German speaking person as English was non existent. We found the toilets easy enough whilst exploring and eventually found the showers in a different block. Not sure which was drinking water but luckily we had enough with us. Not sure how you get 30% of boat trips or a free map but they where not freely given. A lovely position however right on the Rhine and a short walk in to the town.

we went for a lovely meal at the ratsstube restaurant in the town and had planned a night cap at the site bar however when we arrived at 21:30 it had closed already.

Good location excellent family run siterun site

Second time at this site, but was a little apprehensive when we read the small print on the booking conformation form that we were there at the same time as the annual Harley Davidson bike festival, and many bikers would be on site. Fears absolutely unfounded many bikers on site but very quiet and got on very well with several of them. Some amazing custom built bikes on site and lining both sides of the main street , which is closed to traffic throughout the festival. Well worth going to even if your not too interested in motorbikes. Right on the banks of the rhine site is within easy walking distance to the town. which has many restaurants. Plenty see around and about. Swimming next to site and cycle paths close by.

Relax by the Rhine

We stayed 6 nights in July. My first impression was not good as I thought the site was cramped and we had been pushed into a corner. However, within a very short time my mind was changed and I soon realised just how good this site is. Positioned right next to the Rhine and within very easy walking distance of the town, next to a large swimming pool and on a fantastic cycle route this site is perfect and above all the facilities are out of this world. Get here if you can you will not be sorry. Rob and Marian Nicholson, Hawick

Fantastic Two Week Stay - Wish It Could Have Been Longer!

What a wonderful 2 week stay at this fabulous site, we really didn't want to leave. The staff are friendly and very helpful, the washrooms are exceptionally clean and 'spa like' with soothing music and ambient lighting. It's a busy place with many using it as a stop off for a night or two and at busy times it may appear a bit higgedly-piggeldy and not at all regimented but to us that simply adds to the charm and interest. It's an ideal base with lots in the area within walking distance to keep you occupied. It's great for families and couples alike and one of the wardens is extremely popular with dogs having a constant stash of treats in his pocket to hand out. Along with the recommended places to visit by other reviewers, do sample the delights in Rudesheim's bakery on the Rhein front and for an extra special treat book a table at the the Schloss hotel restaurant on the Drosselgasser. We shall definitely be back!

Superb location

Loved the location and the riverside walk into Rudesheim with it's pretty streets, restaurants and bars. The cable car up to the monument followed by a walk, chair lift and return boat trip was superb. We stayed for 3 nights on a pitch round the edge which was fine. We returned 8 days later for 1 night and were pitched in the middle. Fair enough for 1 night but it was very overcrowded with no privacy. Some motor home canopies were virtually touching the unit next door. Other than that, a great few days and would return.

Excellent Site

We would recommend this site, worries about overcrowding were not observed on our visit. We were given the choice of 3 pitches by the owner, all with shade and sun dependant on the time of day. Lots to do locally and spent most of the week on our bikes crossing the Rhein on the ferries and visiting lots of castles etc. Can't wait to go back.

So good we stayed a second week

So good we booked to stay for a second week. This campsite is in a fantastic location, lots to see and do, we only took the campervan out once in two weeks and that was to stock up on beer, wine and water. There are several supermarkets just a 10 minute walk from the site. The facilities were spotless and the staff friendly, helpful and spoke perfect English. Small shop and cafe/bar on site which we used a few times and thought was good value. Lots of excellent cycling tracks directly accessible from the campsite. We cycled to Eltville one day and to Bad Kreuchaf another, both nice, mostly traffic free rides and you must visit Bacharach, we also cycled here, pretty village and stopped off on way back to paddle in the Rhine at one of the small beaches. Small local market on a Friday morning at Gessinhem which is only two miles from site and has a lovely cafe on the market square where you can watch the world go by. Also recommend cable car ride to Niedwrwahl and boat trip. We also caught train to Koblenz which had fantastic views along the Rhine but Koblenz was a disappointment, wish we caught train to Frankfurt instead. We really enjoyed our stay and were sorry to leave.

Great location

We approached driving passed Lidl and then turned left and passed the sports centre. However the satnav wanted to go straight to Kastanienallee, which was a very narrow road - probably no problem with a campervan. Great site, open pitches, pick more or less where you like, directed by receptionist on bike. Electricity is accessed through the usual boxes, however access is via a key held by staff. No problem with this - just different. Free wifi with password obtained from the Kiosk - access better the closer to the kiosk you are. We were here mid May and the kiosk was only selling drinks, and a few "usual" necessities. The restaurant did not open until later in the season - very reasonable prices. A 15 minute walk into the very touristy town, turn right along the river (through the patio area of the bar/restaurant and the gate). Plenty of choice of restaurants, etc. Rolls can be ordered each day, these were pretty good. Great view of the river, due to us visiting in May there were a few flies which was disappointing as was not great sitting outside. However if you pitch was further back I wouldn't think this would be a problem. We can recommend the "Ring Tour". Cable car up to the Niederwald Monument and surrounding parkland. We took a leisurely wander for about an hour taking in the viewpoints and other monuments along the way to the chair lift, which goes into Assmannshausen. Another small touristy town, finishing with a 40 minute boat trip back to Rudesheim. 15 euros per adult. No paperwork, etc given on check in, however local information is on the boards near the toilets and there is a tourist information centre in the town, on the front. Great facilities - I couldn't believe I was on a campsite. Washing machine use for 3.50 euros including powder (with multi-lingual instructions). The two machines, even had a countdown so you knew exactly how long they would be - new one on me. Would definitely recommend this site, and if in the area again wouldn't hesitate to return here.

Back again and happy again

Second visit in a year and yes, you can go back without being disappointed. The five star facilities remain just that, the location is perfect for travelling about without resorting to using the car or motorhome, with trains and ferries a relatively short level walk along the banks of the Rhine. Open air pool next door. Others have mentioned the proximity to river and train lines but the potential for background noise is a minor price to pay for the ease of access to both and didn't actually bother us in the least, despite coming from Grubhof which is almost completely silent at night but has few public transport links. Once again, a lovely site and a great visit.
