In The Bleak Midwinter
Stayed here for one night (22/02/2015). Agree with Sailorman. Pretty grim at this time of year. Couldn't use the electric because of reverse polarity (tried swapping the wires in our plug but nothing seemed to work). Plenty of hot water but the shower block was unheated, no hand wash soap or hand drying facilities. No loo rolls in the cubicles, but a weird system where you take toilet paper off a roll outside the cubicles and then hope that you've taken enough (perhaps that's too much information!). We should have booked into the hotel - it looked quite smart. I think Caravan Club should take this one off their list of recommended sites.
Comment from Deputy Head of Travel Services:
Dear flyingmike and Sailorman16
I am very sorry to learn that you both were not happy with your stay on Camping Regio near Salamanca, Spain. I have raised your points with Sandra, the campsite manager, to get her feedback. First of all, she is very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay, she and her team will always make every effort to give Caravan Club members a pleasant stay; as a result she would like to address both your points. All pitches come with electricity and up until reading your comments, Sandra was not aware that customers had had trouble with reversed polarity or connecting to it. If anyone were to have a problem, the reception staff would be more than happy to help resolve it. With regard to your comments on toilet paper, Sandra explained that there is toilet paper outside of the toilets because, previously, it was frequently used up or taken away by customers, which resulted in complaints. This new system ensures that there is always toilet paper for customers when using the toilet blocks. With regard to soap, it is quite common on continental campsites for you to bring your own hand soap. Concerning heating the toilet blocks, Sandra has taken this feedback on and will consider installing it in the future and I will publish any updates on The Caravan Club website or in the magazine. Furthermore, Sailorman 16, you mentioned that the toilet block was not clean. I am sorry that you had to experience a dirty toilet block, whenever this site has been inspected by The Caravan Club the facilities have always been very clean. Finally, one of the main reasons why this campsite is part of the Caravan Club network is because of its location, being so close to the beautiful city of Salamanca and the motorway. However, this campsite also offers well-marked out pitches with electricity, a lovely restaurant in the adjacent hotel as well as convenient public transport links into Salamanca. In addition, Sandra and her reception staff all speak excellent English and offer excellent customer service and are very willing to make your stay as pleasant and happy as possible.
