Challenges Ahead ...
Although new to the club, this site is well established but with new ownership. When we were there the site was full and folk were being sent away, having overcome accessibility issues provided by narrow roads and narrower bridges. There are some good and positive points - the restaurant, in particular produced a delicious meal and the scenery is lovely. The nearby canal side cycle/walkway (towpath) is excellent. Also, for now, the site is managing. The main example for concern is the washroom facility. For a significant sized camp the washroom is inadequate. In the male block, there are three showers equipped with domestic grade equipment. (I’m told the female is the same.) Consequently the showers are in pretty constant use each evening with a queue in the morning. I would expect the showers will simply break down at some point. Another concern is the electric hook ups. They appear to my lay eye to be a little ‘Heath Robinson’. Certainly I saw a scramble amongst new arrivals taking place to secure a supply to their units. I also saw, noteworthily, a staff member working to ensure that a supply was made available. Indeed the proprietor was engaged and ‘out there’ to deal with people’s issues. The wi-fi did not work, despite showing a signal.
I wish success to the site. But it has challenges.
