A Very Nice Site (In September)
We stayed here for seven nights in late September. The site was very quiet, the shop, restaurant and onsite activities were all closed, this didn`t bother us in fact I think the site may be too noisy and busy for us in July/August. We were given a large pitch directly alongside the river, fabulous position with a great view. The facilities are mixed and draughty with a raised roof allowing the wind to blow in. They were clean and there were very few people using them so no waiting. We paid just under £14 per night which was great value. The nearby village is small but has a Pizza place which is very "French" and we enjoyed a meal there with other tables occupied by locals. Nearest town is Sisteron which has a fantastic position high up on the hillside overlooking the river and with the Alps in the distance. It has a Citadel which is well worth visiting, for the views alone but also has an amazing history and an enjoyable walk around the walls. We also visited Digne les Baines, the lavender fields, out of season but still worth seeing and also The Gorge du Verdon which is a fantastic drive around stopping off at the little towns for coffee lunch etc with amazing views.
I can definitely recommend this site (I would avoid peak season).
