AN EXCELLENT SITE FOR A SHORT STAY

We took advantage of a 10% discount by booking for 7 nights but wish we hadn’t. Whilst the site was well managed and the facilities were well maintained we found the location a bit isolated, albeit the local town of Gien was only a matter of about 5 miles away and there were plenty of Supermarkets to choose from.We were warmly greeted on arrival and the reception staff were very pleasant. We were shown to our service pitch, which was a very good size. What became immediately apparent was the fact that the site had only been open a week and wasn’t fully geared up to provide all services. The bar was only open for limited hours as was the snack bar, but nevertheless, the facilities block was cleaned regularly, every day and there was plenty of hot water for showers and washing up. The indoor swimming pool was excellent along with a small jacuzzi. The outdoor pool wasn’t open when we arrived but was opened the following weekend. There are excellent facilities for kids with plenty of play areas and games available. The site has a mixture of chalets, static vans an and Motorhomers/touring caravans. Over the weekend it naturally became busier with people using the chalets, especially near the lakes for coarse fishing, but it was still very peaceful and there are regulations in place to avoid noisy behaviour late into the night.it is part of the Castels Camping chain which is a good recommendation in its own right as this chain offers first class facilities. On the whole we were happy with our stay but if we stayed again, in future, it would only be for a few nights . I would recommend the site and it was as described, unlike some other sites we have visited.
