Peaceful forest site with miles of trails and cycle paths nearby

Very quiet site in a forest (apart from the dawn chorus). The pitches vary enormously in size, shape, shade (0%-100%) and topography (bring wedges)! They are serviced (6A EHU, water, drain). Toilet/shower block is unisex, kept very clean and has plenty of hot water. Washing up area. Daily 8am bread delivery to your pitch is available. Miles and miles and miles of trails, tracks and cycle paths through the forest, along canals, rivers, lakes and a disused railway. Massive E.Leclerc supermarket near.

Stayed June 2023

The staff on this site need a course in hospitality, We had called in advance to check our booking and ask for pitch near friends that we were meeting and that we were a 7.5m and 8m motorhomes. We received confirmation and allocated two pitches which it turns out a tent was already on, given another pitch which had a tree stump at the back - there was no way either van could fit on this. We returned to reception and explained the young girl said no these were the pitches we should have, finally persuaded her that one of the pitches was occupied she had to come out for herself to see! Then the manager who is really young decided to make an appearance started shouting, pretended he didn't understand english but had spoken to us and a Dutch couple in english only minutes before. We were then offered two other pitches and told to take it or leave and he then walked off shouting. As it was now late in the afternoon we decided to stay for the night (supposed to be there for 4 nights) The mosquitos and sand flies were awful, my husband was bitten on his arm which then swelled up and was very hot and angry looking. Toilet and shower whilst had hot water was very old fashioned and in need of desperate updating. The reception staff were extremely unhelpful. We phoned the next morning to our next stop just outside of Calais and were treated with respect, extremely helpful and yes they could accommodate us arriving 3 nights early!! Don't book this site if more than 6meters long, be prepared for flies, midges and any other biting insects, small pitches, with tree stumps in them,

Comment from the Club:

Our contracting team will continue to include this campsite in our programme as we have always worked very well with the campsite staff and recommend it as a good stopover location for the channel ports.

While it is true that the sanitary blocks are dated and in need of refurbishment they are kept clean and have a good supply of hot water.

The pitches do vary in size and shape with some unclear boundaries but they are generally large enough for outfits up to 8m.

Insects will frequently be a feature on campsites especially those in a forest setting.

Members have generally given good feedback on the staff and their welcome but we`ll continue to visit the campsite regularly as we do with our entire programme to ensure we are happy to recommend the site to members.

Nice woodland site mainly full of static mobiles

We used this site as a stopover before going on to Calais and whilst it hasn’t got the best pool etc. it does have a very nice woodland atmosphere which we found very cosy and chilled. It’s perfect if you want to be close to Calais for going/returning further south without being too close. One word of caution, the resident cockerel could have you up pretty early, so earplugs are a good idea.

Ok for Pit stop....

Stopped here for one night at beginning and end of our trip to the French Alps. Great location, being an hour and half away from Calais but felt it was a bit overpriced for what it offers. The pitch itself was great- fully serviced, defined by shrubs. The toilet block nearest us was fairly old fashioned, toilet paper not in individual cubicles and soap not supplied. Unisex facilities which I'm not always keen on.... The small pool kept our 2 kids entertained for a while and there is a decent enough play park. Sadly, we were disappointed to arrive on a Monday on our return journey when the bar was not open for drinks or snacks.(every Monday) The opening hours are fairly limited on other days of the week being open until 10am - 12.30pm and 4- 8pm (9pm at the latest on weekends) On our initial visit food didn't seem available so I would advise not relying on the site for a meal. A glass of wine would have been welcome on our last night so this was a bit disappointing. There is a large marquee available to campers if the weather is inclement (contained tables and benches) and it appeared to have a fridge and freezer available for visitors to use. Overall, we've visited other stopover sites which were cheaper or gave more value for money and we would be more inclined to use these again next time .

First Night Stopover

Stopped here on our first night heading towards Alsace and Switzerland. Nice distance from Calais for our slow motorhome. Pitch was good, with electricity and water. Had french style toilets and showers (unisex, open gents area, no toilet paper in cubicles) Bread delivery service to the van in the morning was a nice touch.
