A great second visit.

This was our second visit to this excellent site, the last being 6 years ago. I had booked to stay 4 nights prior to our return ferry crossing from St. Malo to Portsmouth but having cut short our visit to our previous site at La Venise Verte we were delighted to be able to arrive here 2 days early. We received a warm welcome on arrival matching the very helpful phone call made a couple of days before when I extended our stay. We were free to select a pitch of our choosing, all of which were fully serviced with private water supply and drainage. Pitches are organised in various bays and enclaves providing a wide selection of locations. All are of a good size though with a caravan and awning the car had to be placed across the front of the pitch. Mature trees and hedges delineate pitches and provide a good degree of privacy. The restaurant, take-away, bar, fitness centre, toilets/showers, reception and shop are all accommodated within the charming former barn and outbuildings of the chateau which surround the superb pool and children’s play area. The pool was open and heated to 20 degrees during our visit. Although we prefer to use our own toilet and shower facilities those on site appeared immaculate. We did use the laundry however contained within a second toilet/shower block and the first class washers and dryers are operated by a novel phone app that not only takes payment and dispenses washing detergent but texts a message when the program cycle is completed. A great improvement on having to keep returning to check on progress. The nearby town of Combourg has an excellent market on Mondays and is also served by three large supermarkets. Further afield visits to Dinan, St. Malo and Mont St. Micheal are all very worthwhile and the close proximity to the ferry at St. Malo (20 miles) make this an ideal site to visit both on the inward and outward journeys. Visiting out of season the site was quiet but the layout of facilities and the privacy afforded by the trees and hedges ensure an enjoyable experience throughout busier times. We have been before and won’t hesitate to go again.
