Not fit for purpose. Do Not visit.

Although set in beautiful chateau surroundings this is actually an appalling site.Just "NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE". Dark sloping pitches which are unusable when it rains. Seriously, how can you be a campsite that is unusable when it rains???? Only booked as a one night stopover but as it was raining we had to pitch on the road or risk getting bogged in as several earlier visiters clearly had. Electric hook up is a mile away and like the water connection was filthy, overgrown and barely above ground level. Facilities are ok (at least there was hot water) but dated. Be aware, the toilets are usable providing you stand or have no legs! I have never not been able to shut the toilet door when sat down before and I am only 5' 11" It was so bad that we decided to move to a nearby motorway Aire but by the time we came.to our senses and made this decision we realised that the site gates had been shut and "padlocked", the site owners had buggered off, we could not get out and there was no phone number to contact said site owners? Being "locked in" like a prison is bloody unacceptable.... What would anyone do if they had a medical emergency?? I stand by my conclusion that this is NOT "fit for purpose" and I do not think the club should be recommending this to its members!
