BUZZING & HECTIC!
As an 'older' couple who had just spent a week with our family in the Loire Valley, we opted for this site as a stopover on our way home. We wouldn't normally choose to tour in school holiday time, so were prepared for everywhere to be busy.
But we did feel a bit 'out of it' as we explored the site, with so many large family groups and families with young children there.
We could see that it is a really lovely site, with the unusual layout of many pitches being in 'rings' around the edges of the lawns. It was really packed when we arrived, and I wondered whether I would like being quite so close to neighbours. Some cars and caravans were literally almost touching each other.
However, we were taken to a distant spot along a long avenue of tall trees where we had a relatively quiet pitch with its own 'space'. It was a long walk tho' to the sanitary block and washing-up facilities, so we didn't actually bother to use them but kept to our own in our motorhome. Water was very readily obtainable close by, and our electricity supply was faultless. We imagined our grandsons having a whale of a time in the woods and there is certainly a lot of space for children plus organised entertainment and clubs for them.
The chateau itself is delightful, and the staff even more so. We had the best welcome ever, I think. Much Gallic charm! There is a lovely bar and terrace area, and a good little restaurant with a lot of covered outside space as well. We visited Le Mans and the old Plantagenet City which is really beautiful, but the weather was very variable and perhaps coloured our overall experience. We did get to the Le Mans 24 Hour Circuit Museum which was worth every cent. It's fantastic (if you like cars, which I do now!). Overall, a beautiful site, well-maintained and run by a competent and caring family (who also own the chateau). But I wouldn't personally go at the same time again - I'm sure it would be a very different experience in a quieter season.
