Difficult pitches

Do not follow A86 on satnav its a tunnel Took 90 minutes to find and site on our pitch. The 'roadway' was a mud track sodden in rotting leaves. Took ages to get van along track to set up in the dark. Walking at night to facilities was treacherous as practically no lighting..I slipped several times. Worst chemical toilet I have known with a grill on it catching all unspeakable muck from other users. The approach roads with a caravan are tricky and should be approached with care.

Excellent site for visiting Versailles & Paris

My husband and I stayed here for 10 days in July 2023. Site was quite crowded and pitches maybe not quite as big as others we have stayed on. Staff are friendly and helpful. Excellent site for visiting the Chateau at Versailles and Paris. There is a train that goes into Paris stopping near the the Eiffel Tower. Reception have a map of where to find the station. Versailles is a 10 min drive away. You could walk if you are young and fit. Croissants and bread available to order and there is an excellent Bakery and shop a short walk from the site.

Unless you want to stay in Versailles, AVOID!!

We have stayed at many Huttopia sites over the years and this one is by far the worst one! Very expensive, our pitch (149) we stayed on at the end of July was very narrow and uneven so we couldn't put motorhome roll out awning out (not enough space). Tree roots mean super uneven ground and other campers encroaching onto our pitch because their tents/ caravan awnings/ chairs etc didn't fit on their pitch so they used a bit of ours whether we liked it or not. Toilet block opposite us (no.2) very clean but wooden steps up to it were loose and quite dangerous. Access roads are very narrow and site is cramped. Manoeuvring a 7m motorhome was a challenge we didn't expect. During our 2 day stay the waste/ recycling area was overflowing with debris which smelt nasty (it was a hot time of year). To add insult to injury when we tried to use the motorhome water emptying point (there is only 1 on site) we grounded out - it is not fit for purpose! We emailed Huttopia before posting this review and all they said was it is expensive because it is Versailles - no apology for stinking piles of rubbish, broken steps into wash facilities, cramped pitches, unusable waste water disposal etc etc etc. Location of the site for visiting the palace of Versailles is good - EVERYTHING else is sub-standard. Use their site at Rambouillet, pay less, enjoy level and bigger pitches, get the train to Versailles and have a better holiday. Or use an aire, it cannot be any worse.

God Awful

Stayed here for two nights at the end of July 2019, and all I can say is why on earth you would go back twice. Access to the site is horrendous, the staff were the rudest and unhelpful they could possibly be. The pitches are terrible, uneven and nowhere near the sizes they quote. People park everywhere obstructing access in and out. Very noisy and the site has all the charm of a refugee camp - Holiday camp on steroids, avoid at all costs!!!

Excellent site for visiting Versailles Palace

We were concerned about this site having read the previous reviews but we didn't experience any problems. It is a woodland site so pitches are a little uneven and would probably be very muddy if wet but the plus side is that pitches are on different levels so you are not overlooked and the trees offer lots of shade. We didn't use the pool but it looked great and the bar area overlooking the pool is lovely. Staff very helpful and facilities fine. The location is perfect for visiting Versailles - a 5 minute drive with huge car parks when you get there. The gardens at Versailles are amazing and free if you don't want to visit the house.

Great location terrible access

We picked the site to start our trip because it is so well located for Versailles, a 45 minute walk. And a 10 minute walk to the station to go into Paris. The access to the site was horrendous, the roads in the last 1/4 mile are residential with cars parked at the sides, to make matters worse the road you are expected to use to the site entrance was closed for road works, meaning diversion down very small side roads. We simply could not get our outfit round the corners. At one point we had to unhook and use the motor mover (thank goodness we have one) to make a left turn. When we arrived the staff were very apologetic and said many people had had the same issue and sometimes the police had to rescue them!!! Our pitch was very uneven and full of tree roots, having said that the site has a good bar, pool and restaurant and very nice staff. The site was busy early and later in the day and lots of children. Mostly static huts so caravans and campers a bit of an afterthought but without the nightmare of getting on to site it is to be recommended as a base to visit the sites easily.

our vist in june 2017 Not good

We picked this site as it is very near Versailles palace, as we had planed to visit the palace at some point of our stay, we was booked to stay for four night as we was on at way back home from our eight weeks touring France. the staff at reception was polite and friendly, also the bar area pool and toilet are very clean, the only thing that the pitchers are in a wooded area and the ground is not all that good no grass if it rained you may possibly find it muddy, pitchers our not that big if you have a big outfit. we only stop one night as we found out when we got to our pitch that we encounter a problem. we found that there was three family's of gyipsys/ travellers on the site near us ,the Nosie from them was not good the children was running around the site and over people pitcher's it was arduous. we stopped over night at the site , the next morning we went down to reception to tell them what was happing and they said that they was aware of them and did not no till people complained to them that they was gypsys/travellers. we said we could not stay, and they said that they would give us our money back and said that they was sorry for what had happen and was going to deal with the issue, it just spoiled it for us and we did not get to Versailles we hope to go at some point would I recommend this site ok for some people sorry not for us bad experience,
