Amazing site!

We wholeheartedly agree with all the other reviews of Grubhof - it really is a spectacular site; and we just wanted to write another good review to support the others. Location: stunning.  Pitches: enormous.  Sanitary block: out of this world.  We made full use of the free local "summer card" for the swimming pool and cable car in Lofer as well as a trip to the gorges.  The local cycle path was brilliant (virtually no gradient!) so we used it to visit Lofer, Weissbach and the gorges.  The ability to swim in the river was an added bonus - great when the temperature hit 35 degrees in August! Something worth bearing in mind (though not a complaint) is that caravans have to be pitched in a precise way (as detailed by another reviewer).  Our pitch had connection to water, wastewater & electricity, which we wanted to make full use of during our 12 night stay.  These connection points are located between every other pitch, so there's a 50:50 chance of your connection being at the front or the back of your unit.  Unfortunately our services were at the front end of the pitch and our inlet/outlet are at the back of our caravan, so it took some jiggery-pokery to get everything to reach, but we eventually managed it. We highly recommend this fantastic site and if, like us, your previous continental caravanning has barely strayed beyond the French border, we urge you to take the plunge and try something new in Austria!

Superb Site

What a huge pith we had they could have easily put another van between us and our neighbour opposite it was that big. The shower/toilet block was modern and clean. There is a bar/restaurant on site which we didn't use so can't really comment other than to say it looked well used so i'm guessing is fine. Reception staff spoke good English and gave us a load of information on arrival as well as a pass for free use of the cable car and swimming pool in Lofer as well as free entry to two nearby gorges and a cave which are well worth visiting. From the cable car you can do many walks and as you can imagine the scenery is spectacular. We visited Salzburg and as my wife is a Sound of Music fan did the tour which took us out to the spectacular Austrian Lake district. All in all we had a fabulous time hear and we will definatley be returning.

Wow!

We loved the site and surrounding area. On arrival we were given a free pass for the cable car and the swimming pool in nearby Lofer. We enjoyed riding our bikes on the paths, the modern and spacious amenities block and the on site restaurant. A great site!

Wonderful Site

At the end of June we stayed for 11 nights. First trip to Austria & worth it, mountains had snow on top even though in mid 20’s temps on campsite. Pitches each had plenty of grass in front of the hardstanding so very spacious feel. River close by & no noise. Excellent walking & cycling areas around the site. Free maps in English provided. Fantastic ice creams could be sought from Cafe Dankl in village of Lofer. We were in dog friendly area, showers & toilets excellent, kept very clean. Only disapointments were had to pay to use the gym & wifi was bit pricey at €14 a week for one device only. Sauna & steam room on site worth a visit although not for the faint hearted as local protocols apply.  go high season (July) and cable car is free as campsite issue you with a pass.  We visited Bertesgarden which was 40mins away & trip to Eagle’s Nest is a must. The Grossglockner Alpine Road was amazing as well. The holiday to Austria was well worth the journey.
